The Municipality of San Rafael will be celebrating the 22nd Angel Festival in honor the Patron Saint of the San Juan de Dios Parish, Archangel Saint Raphael, one of the seven archangels. Archangel Raphael, often referred to as the “Divine Healer”, is the patron saint of those who are ill and the caregivers who attend to them on Earth. He stands as a beacon of hope during our darkest hours, acting as the conduit for God’s healing light.
This year’s celebration’s theme is “Balik Tradisyon sa Makabagong Ngayon” which means going back to traditional religious celebration sans the previously themed Angel Festival showdown which features popular customs and genre from the past decades.
Today, September 20, 2023 shall be the start of the novena masses at the San Juan de Dios Parish. The novena mass today at 5:30 p. m. shall be celebrated by Most Reverend Ruperto C. Santos D. D., Bishop of Antipolo. Three Bishops are scheduled to grace the celebration of Masses, Bishop Ruperto C. Santos for today, Most Reverend Dennis C. Villarojo D. D., Bishop of Malolos on September 28 and Most Reverend Rolando J. Tria Tirona, O. C. D., D. D., Archbishop of Caceres on the 9:00 a. m. mass on September 29, the feast day of Saint Raphael.
The Street Dance celebration (Indakan sa Kalye) shall be held on September 23 starting 7:00 in the morning onwards while the angels showdown shall be held in the afternoon at the Victory Gymnasium inside the municipal compound in Barangay Sampaloc.
There will also be a motorcade to the San Rafael River Adventure at Barangay Talacsan followed by a Holy Mass and a Fluvial Parade going downstream to Barangay Poblacion to the San Rafael Church.
On the night of the feast day, the Mayor Cholo Music Fest will be showcased which features popular rock bands.
